Alfred Wallace Farnell, 88, of Salem, New Hampshire, passed away on Monday, May 17th, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Georgetown, MA, he was the son of the late Anne Buckley and Harold Farnell. He was a proud and beloved truck driver and member of the Teamsters Local 25 and 633. When he wasn't behind the wheel, he enjoyed spending every moment with his family, taking trips to Thailand, and driving his truck, "Big Red" around town. He was a loving and doting husband, father, papa, and great-grandfather and an esteemed and cherished resident in Salem, NH. He was the life of the party- the first and last one on the dance floor, known for stealing dances with the bride and the microphone from the DJ at family weddings. His love and generosity were limitless- he spent his retirement days volunteering for the Greater Salem Caregivers. He was rightfully known as a family man and beamed with joy at the fact that he never had a quiet home. He lived a long, fulfilling, and adventurous life, and he never passed up an opportunity to tell a story or two to anyone who would listen. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Al is predeceased by his mother, Anne Buckley and father, Harold Farnell, father-in-law Sam Maeprasop, brother Francis Buckley, and two half-sisters, Donna F. Hackney and Shirley Swetman. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lakkana "Toy", children: Karen Charity (Norm), Donna Cefalo (Tommy), Maureen "Rani" Monte (Bert), Kellie Martin (Paul), David Farnell (Kristen), Patrick Farnell, Ann Merrill (Jason) and Michael Farnell (Diane). In addition to his wife and children, he also leaves behind his grandchildren: Nicole, Jason, Christopher and Erik Charity;Nicholas and Krysten Cefalo; Ashley and Sarah Monte; Danielle and Brian MacDonald; Lisa, Kara and Jenna Martin; Kellsie and Patrick Farnell ; Sarinya, Marissa, and Arianna Merrill; Leah and Samuel Farnell as well as 16 great-grandchildren, 13 brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. The burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a memorial donation be made to the Greater Salem Caregivers at www.salemcare.org or to the Salem Firefighters Relief Association, 152 Main St., Salem, NH 03079.
