Alton Edward Mosher of Salem, NH quietly passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022; he was 92 years old.

Alton was born on October 17, 1929, in Malden, MA; he was a son of the late Ralph Mosher and Lola (Power) Mosher. Alton was raised in Bethlehem, NH and graduated from Bethlehem High. Alton served in the United States Army as a Sargent during the Korean War. After returning from war, Alton started working for Frances Glessner Lee as a model maker for her hand-made dioramas of murder scenes.  He then transitioned his career to A&M as an engineer and moved his family to Salem NH. Alton finally retired his career as a model maker/technician at Digital Equipment Co. in Salem, NH.

Alton always made the most out of life and enjoyed creating adventures especially with his soulmate, his wife, Doris Mosher. The two of them were always on the go with a variety of activities such as square dancing, ice fishing, or driving their RV across the USA and to visit family in Canada. As long as they were together life was grand.  Doris and Alton shared an amazing love story and were married just shy of 70 years.

Alton was a very active member of the Town of Salem. He made many presentations at the Historical Center where he discussed the model work he did for Mrs. Lee, that was displayed at the Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building in Washington DC.  Alton was also frequently seen marching in many of the Salem parades dressed as Abraham Lincoln. Alton was a long-time member of the community with the United Methodist Church. He was always around to help and serve in his congregation, and one of his favorite services was attending the sunrise service Easter morning at the Campbell's Scottish Highlands in Salem, NH. Wherever Alton was,  he was the life of the party and everyone who has spent time with him has a story to tell.

Alton is predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Doris Mosher of Salem. Alton was an amazing father of three daughters: Nancy, Dawna and Kevin McDonough of Manchester, NH, and Diane and Michael Ciaraldi of Derry, NH. He was the adored "Grampa" of four grandchildren: Amy Ciaraldi, Chris and Jenn McDonough, Jessica and Dan Dearth, and Lisa and Brian Rourke.  He loved and cherished his seven great-grandchildren: Haylee, Jacob, Lily and Grant Dearth, Finn and Myla McDonough and Patrick Rourke. Alton is also survived by his younger brother, Robert Mosher.

The graveside service will be on Thursday August 25, 2022. Service start time is 11:00 AM at Pine Grove Cemetery in the Veterans Section, 329 Main St., Salem, NH 03079. Please arrive by 10:45 AM. The arrangements are under the direction of Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
