Obituary

Anita D. Poirier, 97, of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Genevieve (Perry) LeBlanc.

Mrs. Poirier grew up in Andover, MA. She worked for Tire Rubber in Andover during the war and later she ran the Colonial Inn in Bath, NH with her husband Joseph. Mrs. Poirier also worked for Burndy Electronics Company. She was a devoted communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salem, her church and her faith was very important to her. She also enjoyed playing bingo as well as doing cross-stitching, embroidery and crocheting.

She is survived by four children; Joanne Godfrey of Templeton, MA, Carole Aufiero of Salem, Barbara Carr of Londonderry, NH and William Poirier of Leominster, MA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and by several great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband; Joseph L. Poirier, by her son; Robert Poirier and by two grandsons, a granddaughter and by two great grandsons.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 1 st at 10:30am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 40 Main St., Salem. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem.
