Obituary

Anna G. Rowell, 81, of Salem, NH passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at her daughter's home in Salem surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Arbroath, Scotland, a daughter of the late Alexander and Matilda (McIntosh) Taylor.

Mrs. Rowell earned her nursing degree in Scotland.  She moved to this country in 1959, met her husband; Edward; on a blind date and were happily married 6 months later.  She worked as a nurse for different local hospitals, St. John's in Lowell, MA, The Hunt Memorial in Danvers, MA and the Lawrence General Hospital.  She had a wonderful sense of adventure, living in many different places throughout her life.  The one constant though was her husband. They were inseparable.  Following her nursing career they managed properties together and where you would see one, you would always see the other.  Mrs. Rowell enjoyed traveling, camping, trips across country in their RV and being spontaneous.  She maintained her Scottish heritage and instilled the pride of that in all of her children.  She was a great cook, loved entertaining and hosting events and of course, spending time with her family.  She always wanted the absolute best for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years; H. Edward Rowell of Salem, her three children; Scott Rowell and his wife Lisa Courduff of Carlsbad, CA, Glen Rowell and his wife Josephine of Wakefield, MA and Heather Chase and her husband Rick of Salem.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Taylor Rowell, Emma Rowell, Amanda Jones, Sarah Rowell, Jack Rowell, Anna Rowell, Meagan Pukhtiar, Justin Chase, Alec Chase and Eddie Rowell, two great grandchildren; Leila Rowell and Wesley Pukhtiar, her siblings; Maureen Berthel of Melbourne Beach, FL, Brenda Stewart of Scotland, Martin Taylor of Scotland and Joy Milne of Scotland as well as by many nieces, nephews and cousins in this country as well as Scotland who adored her.  She was predeceased by her son; Edward A. Rowell in June of 2019 and by her brother; Alexander Taylor.

Following cremation, the family will be holding a combined celebration of life for Anna and Edward on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm in the Salem Elks Club, 39 Shadow Lake Road, Salem.  Please come for an hour, come for the day and share a laugh, a tear or a memory.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
