Arthur T. Nisbet, 79, of Hollywood, FL and Salem, NH passed away Monday, December 10 th at his home in Florida, surrounded by his loving family.
Arthur was born and educated in Waltham, MA, the son of the late Mary Grace (Logan) and Eric Nisbet. He played as a catcher in little league and began working at the age of 10. In 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Champion, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years and had three devoted children.
Arthur is survived by this wife Joan Nisbet and 3 children. LeeAnn and husband John Terescik of Nashua, NH. Arthur was proud of all that LeeAnn accomplished. LeeAnn was Arthur's playing partner. They played Horseshoes together on camping trips, they were 45's partners, played cribbage together and stayed up until the wee hours of the morning doing puzzles. Tom Nisbet and his wife Minson, provided Arthur and Joan with a summer home on the Lake in Salem, NH. Many beautiful summers were shared together. Tom and his father were best friends working and traveling the world together. Arthur loved to go to Tom's Ironman events and cheer Tom and his friends on. Mary Grace and husband David Manter of Goffstown. As a child, Mary loved to go on trucking trips with her Dad and when she grew up wanted to be truck driver just like her Dad. Mary and Arthur shared a sweet tooth and looked forward to their Peeps on Easter and sneaking extra cookies after dinner. They also shared a love of football, with Mary cheering on the Dolphins and Arthur with his home team the Patriots.
Arthur and Joan's passion was traveling together. They never knew where they would end up. They visited most of the national parks in America, enjoyed cruises around the world and spending winters together in Florida with family and friends. One of the highlights of Arthur's life was his annual fishing trip up to Pittsburg with some of his oldest friends. This tradition lasted more than 40 years.
Arthur is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Arika Schultz, Aaron Schultz and wife Jachael, Jake Terescki and Nicholas Hodgdon; 3 great grandchildren, Hannah Schultz and Alyvia and Sara Meigh; his 3 brothers Bill and Ronnie, both of Florida and Ed of Hudson, MA; his 2 sisters, Lynda Packer and husband Buddy of Roslindale, MA and Jayne Savioli of Boston and many loving nieces and nephews.
Arthur was predeceased by his grandchildren, Shawn and Scott Nisbet, his brother John, his sister-in- laws, Corinne and Janice and his brother-in-law Al Savioli.
Visitation will be Monday, December 17 th from 3:00 PM – 5:45 PM followed by a funeral service at 5:45 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH
