Obituary

Barbara J. Bogannan, 86, of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, January 4 th , 2020 at Penacook Place in Haverhill, MA surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Plattsburg, NY, a daughter to the late John and Clara (Trombley) Bodanowic.

Barbara grew up with her aunt Leila Dufour in Haverhill, MA and graduated from Haverhill High School. She married the love of her life, the late Theordore F. Bogannan, in 1952 and later resided in Salem, NH where they raised their four children. She was a longtime member of the Lady Lions and was a member of a bowling league at Sandy's Bowling Alley. Barbara was a proud homemaker and loved Sunday dinners with her family, which was a tradition for many years. Once her children were grown, she worked as a teller at Bay Bank in Methuen, MA. She was a lover of the beach and enjoyed her time spent at her seasonal site at Flagg's Trailer Park in York, ME. She was a master of sewing and knitting. She made many mittens, hats, sweaters and Halloween costumes. She also loved to sing, cook, laugh, and be silly, and absolutely adored her time spent babysitting her grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by her children; Cynthia Bogannan of Franklin, NH, Mark Bogannan and his wife Patricia of Concord, NH, David Bogannan and his wife Suzanne of Wolfeboro, NH, and Christine Hauswirth and her husband Ronald of Salem, NH. She is also survived by her six grandchildren; Mark Bogannan, Jr., Elizabeth Downey, Alison Bogannan, Kendra Greelish, Lindsey Severino, and Joshua Carbaugh, as well as her five great grandchildren; Marissa, Kadence, Brayden, Aleena, and Lyla. She was predeceased by her husband Teddy in 1989 and by her two sisters; Beatrice Giamo and Jeannette Serratore.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 from 11:30am to 1:30pm followed by a funeral service at 1:30pm. Both will take place in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem.
