On Friday, July 1, 2022 the world lost an absolutely beautiful and unique woman. Barbara Ann Saia Houlihan, 67 of Salem, NH passed away suddenly at home following a long illness. She was born in the West End of Boston, MA in 1955, the daughter of the late Dominic and Josephine (Dascoli) Saia.

Barbara was raised and educated in Somerville, MA and was a graduate of Somerville High School. She continued her education, earning a degree in accounting. She retired as an accountant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts after 36 years of service to care for her ailing mother. Barbara loved music and dance and Boston sports. She was one of the fortunate few to be able to say she saw the Beatles perform live in Boston in 1964 and again in 1966. Barbara also studied ballet in Boston and Yugoslavia. She treasured the music and the movement.

She is survived by her husband and best friend; Patrick M. Houlihan and she is loved and will be forever missed by Patrick Jr., Kim and granddaughter Lorelei and by her cousin Lisa and friends Erna and Billy Connors.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St., Everett, MA next to her beloved parents.
