Bertha "Bib" I. (Reed) O'Brien, 88, of Salem, NH passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 in the Salemhaven Nursing Home, Salem. She was born in Andover, MA, a daughter of the late Albert and Mildred (Abbot) Reed.

Mrs. O'Brien grew up in Andover and graduated from Punchard High School. She proudly served her country serving for three years with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mrs. O'Brien worked for 27 years as a tax examiner for the IRS in Andover. She volunteered for the Andover Elks and enjoyed knitting and travelling.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years; John "Jack" F. O'Brien of Andover, two sons; John O'Brien, Jr. of Salem, NH and George O'Brien of Methuen, MA, four daughters; Jacqueline Deshaies of Salem, Carlene West and her husband Bob of West Chester, PA, Judith Lefebvre of Barboursville, VA and Donna Richardson and her husband Todd of Andover, MA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, by three sisters; Mildred Waldie of New Portland, ME, Cora Rogers and her husband Jim of Ledyard, CT and Beverly Ricci and her husband Nick of Methuen, MA and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons in law; Will Deshaies and Bruce Lefebvre and the following siblings and their spouses; Albert Reed, survived by his wife Christine, Burton and Dorothy Reed, Walter Reed, survived by his wife Ruth Reed, Judith and Carl Estes, Joyce and Bill Corcoran, Ronnie Reed, Frederick Reed. And also predeceased by Leo Demers and Charlie Waldie (husbands of sister Mildred).

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home,214 Main St., Salem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday at St. Augustine Parish,43 Essex St., Andover. Interment with military honors will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery,124 Abbot St., Andover. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made toAlzheimer's Association,P.O. Box 96011,Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or to the Compassionate Care Hospice.
