Carol
McCarthy
d. Oct 25, 2026
Westwood, MA
Carol McCarthy, 98, of Westwood, MA, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, creativity, and love for her family.
Carol grew up in Dedham, MA and attended Choate School in Brookline. A devoted believer in Christ, her faith was an important part of her life. She enjoyed participating in Bible studies and found comfort and inspiration in her faith throughout the years.
Carol had a wonderful artistic spirit, following in the footsteps of her mother, who shared her creative talents. She enjoyed creating stained-glass pieces, making Christmas and Easter decorations, painting, and coloring. Her artistic pursuits reflected her imagination and appreciation for beauty in the everyday world.
An avid reader, Carol often finished one or more books each week, always finding enjoyment in the pages of a good story. She was particularly fond of Agatha Christie mysteries. During her professional career, she worked in Quality Control at The William Carter Company for 25 years. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family for holidays and meals. She also loved playing Bridge and continued to enjoy the game into her mid-90s at the Westwood Senior Center.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” McCarthy; her son, Jeffrey McCarthy; her sister, Joanne, and her parents Arthur and Jean Williams.
She is survived by her son, Eric McCarthy, and his wife, Sandi of North Andover, MA; her grandsons, Matthew McCarthy and his wife, Lindsay, of Salem, NH; and Michael McCarthy and his wife, Nicole, of Dover, NH; as well as many friends and loved ones who will cherish her memory.
The family is particularly grateful to the nurses and staff at Penacook Place and Methuen Village for their patient and dedicated caring for Carol over the past few years.
Services will be private for the family and are under the care of Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.
