Carol E. Thomas, 85, of Salem, NH passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Everett, MA, a daughter of the late George F. and Helen R. (Kelleher) Evans.
Carol moved to Salem with her husband William E. Thomas in 1966. They enjoyed many gatherings with friends and family in Salem
She retired from Market Basket in Salem, NH. She enjoyed her customers and her work there.
She enjoyed travelling to Delray Beach, Key West, Key Largo and enjoyed many of her summer days at Nubble Light and York Beach with her beloved companion Herbert Walker. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed going to their events over the years. She was also blessed with five great grandchildren, which gave her joy. She loved watching the Patriots and the Red Sox, always cheering them on through thick and thin. She enjoyed her last couple of years at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry where she made many friends and got to socialize while playing cards, trivia and going to music events.
She is survived by her son, William E. Thomas, Jr. of Salem; by her four grandchildren Ryan, Reed, Kate and Kara Thomas; by her granddaughter in law Stacy Balavitch; by her five great grandchildren Brayden, Dolan, Evan, Logan and Luke Thomas; by her former daughter in law, Kathleen Thomas. She was predeceased by her husband, William E. Thomas, her sister Joan Izzi, and her companion Herbert Walker.
Services will be held privately for the family. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023. The Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, Salem, NH assisted the family with the arrangements.
