Charles F. Gendreau, Sr., 83 of Derry, NH passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in the Academy Manor Nursing Home, Andover, MA. He was born in Lowell, MA, a son of the late Albert and Margaret (Perry) Gendreau.
Mr. Gendreau proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He later served 12 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked as a carpenter for Raytheon for 35 years. Mr. Gendreau was a very talented woodworker and was a genius working with his hands, he could fix anything. He was an avid bowler and golfer and was known and remembered for his stark blue eyes.
He is survived by a son; Charles F. Gendreau, Jr. and his wife Katalin of Tucson, AZ, two daughters; Christina M. Kuhn and her husband Scott of E. Hampstead, NH and Lauri-Ann Sousa of Derry, seven grandchildren; Tara, Charles III, Adam, Deanna, Victoria, Timothy and Madelyn, three great-grandchildren; Donovan, Joslyn and Anthony Joseph, two brothers; Raymond Gendreau of Dracut, MA and Edward Gendreau of Derry and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife; Mary (Zappala) Gendreau in 2004 and by two brothers; Bill and Maurice Gendreau and a sister; Rita Marchand.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10:00am in St. Matthew Parish, 2 Searles Rd., Windham, NH. Interment with military honors will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, 170 May St., Lawrence, MA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Senior Class Adult Day Care, 201 NH 111, Hampstead, NH 03841.
