Charles V. Haskins, 87, of Derry, NH passed away peacefully on Friday May 12, 2023 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Mr. Haskins was born on July 14, 1935 to Charles J. and Mary A. (Malloy) Haskins in Boston, MA.
He served his country in the United States Navy and spent two years on the Battleship USS Iowa during the Korean War era. He drove a truck for Hemingway for 21 years and Purity Supreme for 10 years. Charlie was a proud member of Teamsters Local 25 and a friend of Bill W. for 34 years .
Charlie married Marie (Burks) Dillingham and they resided in Burlington, MA until he retired in 1997. Together, they traveled the country visiting 47 of the lower 48 U.S. states. They enjoyed winters in Myrtle Beach, the Boston Red Sox, and Sunday Night Dinners with family.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother-in-law Chet Brunstrom.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 41 years wife Marie; Children Charles F. Haskins, Gregory Haskins, and Janet Fitzgerald; Bonus kids Alan Dillingham, Craig (Deborah) Dillingham, Steven (Kristen) Dillingham, Tracy (Keith) Cerretani, and Jenifer (Robert) Reddington. Sisters Kathleen P. Brunstrom of Bourne and Annemarie Caruso of Plymouth; Nieces Sheryl (Steve) Crosby, Laura (Jeff) Burton, Leah (Kevin) Ames and nephew Brian Brunstrom. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 6 great-nieces, 3 great-nephews, several cousins and many friends.
Visiting hours will be held Friday May 19th from 10:00am to 12:00pm, Followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home 214 Main Street Salem NH. Burial with Navy Military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans' organization of your choice.
