David A. Davidson of Salem, NH passed away peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Nov. 6 th at Lawrence General Hospital after a long hard fought battle with declining health.
He was born and raised in Fulton, NY; graduated High School there, then joined the US Navy and proudly and honorably served his country. David retired after a 38 year career with the Coca-Cola Company. He spent the first 20 years driving a truck before joining the management team. David previously worked for Raytheon in the missile systems division.
David was a devoted family man. He was a New England sports fan and a Syracuse University sports fan. David loved Sunday family dinners, celebrations with family and friends, playing 45's and gin, playing golf, going to casinos and traveling the US and abroad and going to Lake Winnipesaukee. He owned and raced trotters and pacers. David was a certified scuba diver. He was a member and 3 time Past Master of Spicket Lodge #85 of Salem, NH, a member of the Elks Lodge #720 in Nashua, NH, a member of the Bektash Shriners and the NH Court 137 Royal Order of Jesters. He was a former director of the Salem Chamber of Commerce and the United Way serving both for many years. David was a former Deacon at First Congregational Church in Salem. David will be forever missed by his loving wife, Aliceanne (Shapcott) Davidson; his five daughters, Deanna Reagan and husband Robert of Deerfield, NH, Pamela Franciosa and husband Stephen of Seabrook, NH, Shelly Smigelski of Hampton, NH, Tracie Davidson and Carriesue Davidson, both of Salem, NH; his 8 adored grandchildren, Timothy Reagan, Ashley Reagan, Joseph Franciosa and wife Hannah, Christopher Franciosa, Phillip Franciosa, Turner Smigelski, Hailey Noonan, Seth Davidson and wife Alexis; the apple of his eye, his 4 year old great granddaughter, Aiyana; his Uncle Lawrence Phillips; his Aunts Thelma March and Betty Murphey; a niece and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lillian (Phillips) and Cedric Davidson, his brother Richard, his son-in-law Frank Smigelski and his niece Rebecca Benke.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with the arrangements. Please check the funeral home website for updated service information.
