Obituary

Diane Palermo, 67, of Manchester, NH passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Methuen, MA, a daughter of the late Carmelo and Doria (Houle) Palermo.

Diane was raised in Salem, NH before moving to Methuen, MA and had 3 children then relocated to Manchester, NH where she resided for the past 40 years.  She worked as an electro mechanical assembler and housekeeper.  She loved to cook and bake pastries and found joy by inviting you over to share a meal or to stop by to drop off some of her delicious, freshly baked goods.  Diane also loved taking day trips and going on adventures, from trips to the beach, boat tours, train rides, seeing the fall foliage and Christmas light displays.  She also enjoyed going out to see movies or relaxing at home watching Netflix. Diane was well known for unannounced visits to both family and friends whether it was just to provide company or lend a helping hand, which brought her great joy.  In addition,she was also very fond of her pet parakeets Rocky and Tweet-tweet. Diane was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Salem, NH. Lastly, Diane was a beautiful mother, sister, and grandmother that put everyone before herself, had a heart of gold, and will be sadly missed by all that had the pleasure of meeting her.

She is survived by her children; Ricky Chojnacki, Jr. of Derry, NH, Melanie Chojnacki of Manchester and Christopher Chojnacki of Derry, by her two grandchildren; Zachary Boyer and Natasha Sumpter, both of Nashua. She is also survived by her siblings; Marie Carroll and her husband Clifford of Rome, NY, Antoinette Mondalto of Reading, MA Stewart Mondalto of FLA; Louis Palermo of Windham, NH, Carolyn Palermo of Salem, NH, Roberta Hatch and husband Charles of Lewiston, ME, Loretta Packard and husband George of Lawrence, MA, Theresa Robinson and husband John of Glendale, AZ and Robert Palermo and wife Joy of Haverhill, MA and she is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother; Thomas Palermo and by her sister in law; Kathy Palermo.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 13th in St. Joseph Church, 40 Main St., Salem. Burial will follow in St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence, MA.
