Doris R. Kalil, 91, of Salem, NH passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Salemhaven Nursing Home in Salem, NH on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023.

Born on June 20th, 1931, Doris was a lifelong resident of Salem. Daughter of Alcide J. Laroche and Louise A. (Gagne) Laroche, both of Salem, NH. Beloved wife of the late Philip M. Kalil, of Salem, NH. Loving mother of Michael Kalil and significant other, Pamela Charoux of Salem and Ronald Kalil and wife, Robin (Hicks) of Salem. Survived by her sister Pauline Sawyer of Sandown, NH, Dolores Reardon of Salem, brother Maurice "Red" Laroche of Salem, and predeceased by Neil Laroche of Dallas, TX.

Doris was a Woodbury High School Graduate class of 1950, where she was also a cheerleader. Following high school, Doris worked for HM Stevens at Rockingham Racetrack for over 25 years until the fire in 1980. She then worked at the Salem Flea Market Bingo Hall for over 20 years.

Doris was known for her love for life, feisty sense of humor, and a smile and laugh that could light up a room. Her charismatic personality touched so many, including the nursing staff at Salem Haven, whom she loved dearly.

Doris enjoyed playing bingo, 45s and horse racing. But most of all, she loved spending time with her five grandchildren, Philip, Michael, Jeni-Lyn, Aaron, Haley and her nine great-grandchildren, Callie, Avery, Camryn, Xander, Andrew, Joey, Max, Brinley and Brody, whom she referred to as "her babies." She also loved her grand dogs Monkie and the late Diesel & Bones.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Salemhaven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their outstanding care & compassion during her stay over the last several years.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 9:00am until 10:30am in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Thursday at 11:00am in St. Joseph Church, 40 Main St., Salem.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem.  In lieu of flowers, although welcome, memorial contributions can be sent to Salemhaven Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Activities Department, 23 Geremonty Dr., Salem, NH 03079 Salem Animal Rescue League or the charity of your choice in Doris' name.
