Dorothy T. (Gilmore) Beal, 88, of Salem, NH passed away Monday, August 21st at Warde Health Center.
Dot was a lifelong Salem resident and she graduated from Woodbury High School. She was an active member of First Congregational Church, where she was a Deaconess, sang in the choir and was past President of the Philathea Class. Dot was the longest attending member of the church and had been a member for 69 years. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post #8546 and a member of Rockingham Rubies Red Hatters. Dot was a talented Japanese Bunka embroidery artist and she won many awards for her artwork. She enjoyed playing the organ and teaching an exercise class at the Ingram Senior Center.Dot was a hair stylist and owned Dot's Beauty Shop.
Dot is survived by her children, Jane Beal-Costello and husband Michael and Robert Beal, Jr and wife Deborah; her grandchildren, Robert Beal, III and wife Julie, James Beal and wife Kathryn and Courtney McAuliffe; her great grandchildren, Jameson and Lila Beal; her sister, Gloria Adams of CA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Emily (Dube) and Daniel Gilmore, Dot was pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert Beal, Sr. and her sisters, Lillian Johnston, Evelyn Huggins and Geraldine Griffin.
Visitation will be Monday, August 28th from 4 -8 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
Memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to charity of one's choice.
