Obituary

E. Christine Willis Meyerle, 94 of Salem, NH and McCook, NE passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Evolve at Rye Memory Care Living Center, Rye, NH. She was born in Methuen, MA, the daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Ingman) Foster.

Christine (Tina) was a long-time resident of Salem New Hampshire.  She graduated from Woodbury High School, Class of 1944.  For over 20 years, Christine worked as a legal secretary for Lewis F. Soule, and later for the Soule and Leslie Law firm. Christine was only the second woman in Salem's town history to have served on the town's planning board. Christine was adventurous, compassionate, and loved to debate politics. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, always having a smile on her face. Many memories were built around the ocean and the mountains where many summer vacations were spent.   She loved all animals, especially her dogs and cats. She also had an uncanny ability to connect with people of all ages but especially the young.

Christine was married for 48 years to Richard Willis, former Salem town treasurer (1960-1985) until his death in 1994. In 2002 she married Andrew Meyerle of McCook, Nebraska.

She is survived by her husband; Andrew F. Meyerle, her son; Jeffery F. Willis and his wife Valinda of Windham, her daughter; Kristin L. Burchsted and her husband Robert of Dover, by her three grandchildren; James R. Willis, Justin J. Willis of Windham, and Matthew Bennett and by her two great-granddaughters; Alexis and Katelin Bennett of Freedom, ME. She was predeceased by her first husband; Richard A. Willis and by her brother; William L. Foster, Jr.

She is also survived by Andrew's children; Kathy and Jim Marttila from Rochester, Minnesota, Elaine and Bob Shannon from Manhattan, Kansas, and Greg and Nancy Meyerle from Lincoln, Nebraska and their families.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Christine's extended family of caregivers at Evolve of Rye, who for the past five years provided her needs with love and compassion.
