Edmund "Ed" Frank Cook of Salem, NH passed away on October 28, 2020

He was born in NJ, Sept. 10, 1929, the son of the late Lillian (Willington) and Frank W. Cook. Ed served in the US Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War. While in the military, he attended radar technology school and taught radar instruction and was in charge of maintenance and repair of large outdoor radar antennas.

After his military service, received a Bachelor's Degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University in NJ and was a member of the Phi Zeta Kappa Honor Society. Ed began his career with Bell Labs, beginning as a recruiter and later as an electrical engineer and plant supervisor. While at Bell Labs, he worked on the communication system for the Phantom Jet and later did microwave research. In 1971, he was transferred to Bell Labs in North Andover and settled in Salem, NH. He retired in 1989 and he enjoyed playing golf at Crystal Springs Golf Course and was also a ham radio operator with the call sign WIGIN.

Ed along with his wife Ellen, volunteered at Salemhaven Nursing Home for many years. In 1997, they received recognition from the Governor for their volunteer work. They were volunteers of the year in 1999-2000 at Salemhaven. In warmer weather, Saturday was always yard sales day. If his friends needed anything, Ed could always find it in his big barn.

Ed is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ellen (Gilardoni) Cook; his sister-in-law, Virginia Cook and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves two special ladies, Kathy Hull and Lina Dubois who were always considered daughters and his very special friends, Jackie and Jim Buck.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Oct. 31 ^st from 10AM – 12PM with a service to follow at 12 Noon at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH. A private burial will be at a later date in NJ.
