Obituary

Edmund Schwarzenberg, Jr, 92, of Londonderry, NH and formerly of Methuen, MA passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Ed grew up in Methuen, MA, the son of the late Elizabeth and Edmund Sr. He graduated from Edward F. Searles High School, Class of 1950 and Mass College of Pharmacy, Class of 1955. He was a life member of The Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternity. After graduation, he served two years on active duty in the US Navy as a Second Class Hospital Corpsman with the Fleet Marine Force in Okinawa, Japan.

Returning home to civilian life, Ed worked as a pharmacist for local independent pharmacies namely Community Drug of Methuen, Glover's Pharmacy of Lawrence, Louis Bailly, Inc of Lowell, Dracut Center Pharmacy, Inc of Dracut and he retired in June 1997 from Rite Aid Pharmacy of Manchester, NH. He enjoyed gardening and going camping with his family. He had an avid interest in aviation and attended many area air shows. Ed played golf and cards. He was a fifty-plus year member of the former United Presbyterian Church of Lawrence and currently was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of Methuen, MA.

Ed will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 69 years, Lillian (Ritter) Schwarzenberg; his two children, Carl and wife Carol of South Dakota, and Roy and wife Julie of Maryland; his son-in-law Thomas Dube of NH; his grandchildren, Amy, Megan, Michael and wife Ammu, Michelle and husband Brad, Timothy, Nicholas and wife Annie, and Emily; his great-grandchildren, Jake, Meera, Hannah, Neil, and Owen. Ed was predeceased by his daughter, Carol Dube and his brother, Russell.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 8th from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM followed by a Funeral Services at 11:30 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
