Edward H. Brooks III, 86, of Salem, NH passed away Saturday, March 25 ^th at Salemhaven.

Edward grew up in Freeport, ME, the son of the late Edward Brooks, Jr. and Ruth (Blood) Brooks. He graduated from Freeport High School before attending both the University of Maine and Purdue University Management Institute. He proudly served his country for eight years as a member of the United States Navy aboard the USS Tills (DE-748). His active Duty Service Included the Berlin Crisis, Cuba and Vietnam Era before his honorable discharge in 1963.  He worked as a selectman for the town of Durham, ME for three years and as a town council member in Yarmouth, ME for four years. He worked for Prudential Insurance Company of America for 30+ years before his retirement. After retirement, he briefly taught physical fitness in Maine. He was actively involved with several organizations and held office positions at Court Street Baptist Church, Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church, and CenterPoint Community Church.  He was a 32 ^nd Degree Mason with the Acadia Lodge, a member of the Kora Temple Shrine, State of Maine and Salem New Hampshire Historical Societies, Friends of Rockland Library, and the Audubon Society. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, ice skating, and won many sporting events in the Senior Olympic Games.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Farrell) Brooks; his son, Johnathan and wife Patty of Salem, NH; his sister, Carol Atherton of Maine, his brother Larry Brooks and wife Sandy of Colorado, and his brother Douglas Brooks of Hawaii; his 6 grandchildren, Katelynn Laurina and her husband Mike, Nicholas Brooks, Heather Doloroso and husband Paul, Zac Brooks, Trevor Brooks and Rachel Brooks and 3 great grandchildren, Paul, Brooklynn and Theodore and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sons Tom and Bill.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 1st from 10:00-11:00 AM at The CenterPoint Community Church, 101 School St. Salem, NH followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the church.  Military honors will follow the service at the church. Private family burial will be held on Monday April 3 ^rd at the NH State Veteran's Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
