Obituary

Elizabeth Marino, 89, of Haverhill, MA passed away Oct. 9th at Salemhaven.

She grew up and was educated in Haverhill, MA, and she graduated from Burbank Nursing School with her Bachelor’s Degree. She dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. Elizabeth worked for many years at Hale Hospital in Haverhill. She also provided care through the offices of Dr. Tafe and Dr. Torelli. Her years in nursing reflected her commitment to helping others and serving her community. Elizabeth was a charge nurse with an excellent reputation for the highest level of care and compassion for all of her patients.

Elizabeth cherished the time she spent with her beloved husband, Raymond Marino, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed traveling to their cottage in Effingham, NH, where they could relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Elizabeth loved hosting holiday gatherings with her family, friends and neighbors. Her family was her number one priority. She was a wonderful wife, mother and a great cook.

Outside of her nursing career, Elizabeth had many interests that brought her happiness. She loved sewing and quilting, taking pleasure in creating things by hand. An avid reader, she enjoyed getting lost in a good book. She also volunteered at the Trinity Episcopal Church at the Joyful Ladle in Haverhill many years ago, giving her time to help those in need. Elizabeth especially enjoyed gardening and yard sales and had a wonderful eye for finding a bargain, making each outing an opportunity for a special discovery.

Elizabeth will be remembered for her years of caring for others, her many interests, and the memories she created with those she loved.

She is survived by her son, Paul Marino, and his wife, Leeann of Salem, NH; her siblings, Patricia Vivenzio and her husband, Ken of Seabrook, NH, and Sharon Cyr of Haverhill, MA; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Curtin, Vernice Curtin, and Patricia Hamilton and her husband Frank and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Raymond Marino, her parents, Elizabeth and John Curtain and her brothers, John and David Curtin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
