Ernest R. Corriveau, 83, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Salem, NH passed away on Monday, September, 23, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side following a hard fought battle with dementia. He was born in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Ernest and Blanche (Methot) Corriveau.
Ernest, Ernie as he liked to be called, proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force from 2/27/1954 to 10/1/1957. Known for his humor and quick wit, he was a great storyteller. An enigmatic personality he made friends around the world through his work in Texas, California, New England, Iran and Saudi Arabia. Ernie worked at Raytheon holding several management positions from the early 1960's until his retirement in 1995.
Ernie served two terms as Commodore of the Hampton NH River Boat Club out of his 38 years as a member. He served in the American Legion in Dracut, MA as Commander for a period of time. He also belonged to the Elks Club in North Andover, MA and Punta Gorda, FL and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Methuen, MA.
He is survived by his loving wife of just short of 56 years; Peggy (Schiripo) Corriveau of Hampton, his son; Scott Corriveau of Hampton, his daughter; Susan Rogers of North Port, FL, his grandchildren; Paige Corriveau and her partner Michael Dratner of Boscawen, NH, Maxx Corriveau and his partner Brianna Doherty of Woburn, MA, Alex Corriveau of Hampton and by his two great-grandchildren; Michael and Amelia, the children of his granddaughter; Paige Corriveau and her partner Michael Dratner. He is also survived by his sisters; Annette McGuire of Westminster, CA and Claire Grubbs of Seabrook, NH, his niece; Donna McGuire and many more nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother; Robert Corriveau and his sister; Louise (Corriveau) Kelley.
Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral service will follow Saturday at 4:00pm in the funeral home. Military honors will follow. Interment in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen will be held at a later date.
