Obituary

Eunice M. Barthelemy, 92, of Salem, NH passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, January 23, 2022.  She was born in Milford, MA, a daughter of the late Ray and Elsie (Brisbois) Thurston.

Gramma B as she was known by her loving family was involved in Centerpoint Community Church in Salem.  She loved Jesus and spent time with Him every morning and was always excited to show her family her new devotionals and books she was reading with her bible.  She had also sung in the church choir for many years.  She enjoyed bringing her grandchildren to church and Vacation Bible School to share her love of the Lord.  Gramma B loved court shows, crime TV and mystery novels, and of course; Reese's peanut butter cups, a lot!!!  She was a gifted cross stitcher and made gifts for everyone in the family throughout the years until her eyesight started to fail her.  She loved to show the pieces she was working on when people came to visit.

Gramma B was not a typical bake cookies and read stories to her grandkids kind of gramma but she made a great pot of baked beans and always loved watching her grandchildren play in the pool.  "No splashing Gramma B" was a family mantra and an inside family joke.  She would be a little bit sassy if she wanted to.  Gramma B drove a neon pink car, named "Lil Pink", that had a bumper sticker on it that said, "My boss is a Jewish carpenter."  She is singing in Heaven right now having met Jesus Sunday morning.

In the 1980's Eunice and her sister-in-law, Margie, worked on the family's ancestry. They dug for many years, even traveling to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and found information going back to 1600's, France. They organized the boxes of pages and compiled a 100 page document outlining the genealogy of the Barthelemy family. In the years following, Eunice joined ancestry.com and entered all the information they gathered to the database there, always searching for more of our family.

She is survived by her children; Denise Barthelemy of Louisville, NC, Dawn Valentine of Salem, MA, Doreen Toleos and her husband Steve of Danvers, MA, Danette Smith and her husband Graham of Nashua, NH and Douglas B. Barthelemy and his partner Claudia Y. Hernandez of Salem, NH.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; Jeremy, Jacob, Matthew, Nicole, Melissa, Eric, Steve, Tracy, Amy, Daniel, Kimberly, James, Jessica, Jeffrey and David, by 24 great-grandchildren; Harrison, Jacob, Cameron, Ciara, Madigan, Isaiah, Jacob, Kaden, Erica, Dylan, Jacqueline, Makayla, Nicholas, Danica, Bradley, Abigail, Alice, Emily, Destiny, Azhia, Melody, Olivia, Adaya and Brielle, by her three great-great grandchildren; Elias, Scarlett and Isaias, by her sister; Sandra Thurston of Pensacola, FL,  and by many nieces, nephews and extended family.  She was predeceased by her husband; Walter C. Barthelemy and by her daughter; Deborah Maynard.
