Frank A. Rawa, 79, of Salem, NH passed away on Thursday, October 14 th surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.
He was born and educated in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Bohdziun) Rawa. He graduated from Eli Whitney Vocational High School, Class of 1959. After graduation, he served in the US Army and he was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He attended Southern NH University evenings and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business and his MBA Degree. Frank worked as the information systems director at Northeast Credit Union .Frank received a heart transplant 24 years ago and chose to retire. He then volunteered for the AARP Tax Program for over 20 years, where he was the technical coordinator and State coordinator. Frank also volunteered for the Somali Bantu Community Assoc. which assisted refuges living in NH. Frank received the Spirit of NH Award for his outstanding volunteer service to the community.
He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, history, watching Fox News and was an avid reader. Frank was a man of few words, but if you wanted to know anything about politics, Frank could set you straight. He loved spending time with his family and he was a devoted husband, father and Papa.
Frank will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 53 years, Shirley (Gobush) Rawa of Salem, NH; his 2 sons, Frank E. Rawa of Salem, NH and Scott Rawa and wife Carol of Littleton, MA; his 3 grandchildren, Anthony, Ryan and Daniella; his sister in law Gladys Gage of Salem, NH and brother in laws, William Gobush and wife Mary of No. Dartmouth, MA and Vincent Tullo of Queens, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Ann Tullo and Edward Rawa
Visitation will be on Sunday, Oct. 17 th from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd. Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
Memorial contributions in Frank's name may be sent to Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd. Salem, NH 03079 or to the charity of one's choice.
