Frank L. Verdonck, 98 of Salem, NH and formerly of Stoneham, MA and Medford, MA passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Wingate at Andover Nursing Home, Andover, MA. He was born in South Boston, MA, the son of the late John and Camille (DePauw) Verdonck.

Mr. Verdonck was raised and grew up in Malden, MA but his family summered in Salem, NH for many years. Throughout his life, family was most important to him. Mr. Verdonck proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was raised to Master Mason in 1944 and was a proud member of the Golden Rule Lodge A.F.&A.M. in Wakefield, MA. He worked as the Director of the Physics Lab for Harvard University. One of his duties was handling the government grants for the Nobel Prize winners at Harvard. Mr. Verdonck also worked for Sylvania and MIT as a purchasing agent. During his younger days he worked as an usher for the Metropolitan Theatre, now the Wang Theatre which brought about his love of old and silent movies and the theatres in which they played. In his later years, he absolutely loved his time spent at The Residence of Salem Woods. He felt as if he was the honorary "Mayor of Salem Woods."

He is survived by his two sons; Robert F. Verdonck and his wife Paula of Ft. Meyers, FL and New Hampshire and Ronald P. Verdonck and his wife Betty of Salem, by four grandchildren; Ronald Verdonck II and his wife Kristen, Chad Verdonck, Scott Verdonck and his wife Patty and Danielle Verdonck and her wife Mandy. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; Jessica, Ashley, Jacob, Samuel, Cole, Kara and Summer-Rae and by a granddaughter in law, Keri. He was predeceased by his wife; Alice (DeNutte) Verdonck and a grandson; Todd Verdonck.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 2:00pm to 4:45pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A Masonic Service for the 74 year Mason will be held Saturday at 4:45pm in the funeral home with the funeral service to follow at 5:00pm in the funeral home. Military honors will follow.
