Frederick A. Archambault, Jr., 95, of Salem, NH died Monday, Oct. 22 nd at High Pointe Hospice House after a sudden illness.
He was born and educated in Methuen, MA, the son of the late Frieda (Werner) and Fred Archambault, Sr. Fred graduated from the Edward F. Searles High School, Class of 1941 and he received his Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University. He served in the Army Air Corps 31 st Fighter Corp during WW II as an aircraft armorer, serving in Italy for 2 years.
Upon returning home, he met and married his loving wife Patricia and raised their family. Fred worked at Western Electric and was an engineer in the microwave radio department. He retired in 1983 after 28 years. After retirement, they moved to Florida and joined a local gym. Fred was introduced to power lifting and he began to compete in local and national meets. When they moved back to NH, he joined Hampstead Health and Fitness and was a longtime member. His power lifting career spanned 22 years and he set several records in Regional, National and World level competitions.
Fred will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 71 years, Patricia (Liversidge) Archambault of Salem, NH; his children, John Archambault and wife Paula of Londonderry and Lynn Weischedel of Punta Gorda, FL; his twin sisters, Merle Sciacca and husband Kenneth of No. Conway, NH and Doris McAvoy and husband Scott of Haverhill, MA; his 4 grandchildren, Todd and Clint Wilson, Christine Giblin and Neal Archambault; his great grandson, Cody Wilson and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Lois Ward and Carolyn Carboneau.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 26 th from 4-7 PM followed by a funeral service 7:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial of the urn will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred's name may be made to: Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
