The Honorable Fred Doucette, 61, a devoted public servant whose life was marked by unwavering commitment to the town of Salem, the State of New Hampshire, and the United States, passed away suddenly on July 28, 2026. His decades of service in uniform, in local government, in the State House, and in national leadership left an enduring mark on the communities and people he loved.

Fred dedicated his life to service. He served with honor in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years to the Salem Fire Department, rising through the ranks from a firefighter, to a paramedic, to Lieutenant and retiring as Station Officer. His leadership and dedication to the safety of his neighbors earned him deep respect throughout the community.

A six-term New Hampshire State Representative for Salem, Fred was a steadfast advocate for his constituents. He co-chaired President Donald Trump’s campaigns in New Hampshire in both 2016 and 2020. In 2024, he managed Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign, continuing his work in support of the candidates and causes he believed in. When President Trump appointed him Director of FEMA Region One for New England, Fred resigned his seat in the State House to accept the call to serve at the federal level.

Fred was an avid Patriots fan who held season tickets at Gillette Stadium for 25 years. He also found joy in riding his Harley, playing golf and deep-sea fishing. He was a car enthusiast.

Beyond titles and offices, Fred was a mentor to countless individuals entering public life. He was always ready to offer guidance, share hard-earned wisdom, or simply lend a helping hand. Of all the roles he held, the one he treasured most was “Pop Pop” to his beloved grandson, Roman. Fred was eagerly awaiting the arrival of 2 granddaughters, including Leonnie and looked forward with great anticipation to welcoming them into the family.

Fred will be deeply missed by his two sons, Nicholas and wife Ashley and Tyler and wife Michelle; his brother Michael Doucette; his nieces and nephews, Michelle, Sean, Katie and Kayla and many friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold and Paul.

Fred Doucette’s devotion to Salem, to New Hampshire, and to the nation will be remembered with gratitude. His service, his counsel, and his example will not be forgotten.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 6th from 4:00 -8:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 7th at 10:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd. Salem, NH. Please arrive by 10:15 am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
