Genevieve "Ginny" Lord, 83, of Salem, NH passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022 at her home.  She was born in Charlestown, MA, a daughter of the late Gabriel Schiavo and Mary E. (Walsh) King.

Ginny earned her Master's Degree and devoted herself and her life as a social worker for the State of NH specializing in family protective services.  She was a very strong and faithful woman.  Her family and her faith were the most important pieces in her life.  Ginny was an active member of CenterPoint Community Church in Salem and was also a member of the Women's Lions Club and the Salem Women's Club.  She dedicated her life with her service to the State of NH as an advocate for family rights, battered women and neglected children.  She helped make a difference in the many lives of those who needed her help and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children; Debra Sutcliffe of Goffstown, NH, Christine Ferguson of Port Lavaca, TX, Pam Deveau and husband Derek of Windham, NH and Bernie Lord of Wilmington, MA.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Tasha Ferguson and wife Megan Scerra, Tyler Ferguson, Arielle Ferguson and fiancé Max Berry, Robert Guillemette and wife Janie, McKenna and Vanessa Deveau and Benjamin Lord and by four great-grandchildren; Remy, Wyatt, Lorelei and Wells.  She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years; Bernard "Bernie" E. Lord in 2021.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 10:00am to 11:00am in the CenterPoint Community Church, 101 School St., Salem, NH.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00am Thursday in the church.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem. Mom was one of the strongest women I've ever known!  She was born and brought up on the wrong side of the tracks but she found a way to fight to find a way to make a better life for us.  She was a victim of mental and physical abuse throughout her childhood and young adult life and yet she still found a way to break that mold.

She educated herself, got her high school degree and masters and came out on the other side a much stronger woman due to her faith and love for God and her and Dad's  longtime relationship with their church.

She worked at IBM in Waltham where she met and married my Dad.  She drove a school bus for Salem schools for a while and after getting her Master's degree, while working, being a wife and mother while going to school on the weekends, dedicated herself to working for the State of New Hampshire DCYS doing intake work and went on to licensing foster care parents and helping families with adoption which I personally know 3 families that adopted children with her help!

She loved to read, enjoyed sewing and watching old movies.  She was also very involved in state and local politics campaigning and working with Stephen Merrill when he was governor and also holding the signs at recent voting polls!

She was quite the spicy cracker and loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends.

We as a family miss her dearly and know she's in a better place with God and are thankful for every day that we had the time with her that we had❤
