Genevieve "Gene" B. Silver, 95, a longtime resident of Salem, NH passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020 in the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA. She was born in Lawrence, MA, a daughter of the late Walter and Stella (Rentflejsc) Bogacki.
Gene grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School and later from McIntosh Business School. She married William J. Silver in 1952. She worked for WCCM radio station for 60 years as a bookkeeper and was also the personal bookkeeper for Mr. Curt Gowdy. Gene belonged to the Eastern Star; the Salem Woman's Club and was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church in Salem. Mrs. Silver later helped raise her grandchildren; Benjamin and Joshua and later took care of her mother; Stella Bogacki and her older sister; Blanche Bogacki. She was a very charitable person who always put other people first. She volunteered at the Salem Senior Center in the kitchen for a number of years packaging the Meals on Wheels for the seniors that could not get out. She enjoyed just being around people, she would help out her friends that could not drive anymore by taking them where they needed to go. Gene loved to play cribbage with anybody that would play with her. She also loved going to the beach with her grandchildren. She was an absolutely loving, helpful, caring and goodhearted woman. The favorite thing in her life was visiting with her family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons; John Silver and his wife Charlene of Salem, NH and Paul Silver and his wife Susan of Saratoga Springs, NY, by four grandchildren; Benjamin, Joshua, William and Katherine and by three great-grandchildren; Lucus, Chelsea and Shea. She was predeceased by her husband; William J. Silver in 1973.
Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic and CDC requirements regarding gatherings, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Salem at a later date.
