George F.
Grandmaison, Jr.
d. Nov 2, 2022
Plaistow
George F. Grandmaison, Jr., 70, of Plaistow, NH passed away on Wednesday, November 2 nd at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born and educated in Haverhill, MA and he graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1971. George worked at Parlex Co. in Methuen, MA, for over 30 years where he started as the janitor and retired as the Director of Purchasing and Materials. He often traveled for work and was known to be a tough negotiator. George was an avid sports fan who played basketball and softball in his younger days. He also enjoyed golf, pool, bird watching and many years of running several fantasy sports leagues and proudly won the championship several times. He was a competitive card player who enjoyed weekly 45's with his children. His favorite suit was "Spadatoes" instead of spades and would spend a couple minutes after each hand to discuss the previous game play. Game nights with his family were often filled with fun and laughter, especially playing Scattegories, a family favorite. The debates over an accepted versus unaccepted answer were the highlight of the evening often ending in hilarious banter. George enjoyed going to yard sales with his family. Although he didn't typically buy anything, he did enjoy the conversations with strangers and would always dish out a couple of dollars for a child selling cookies.
George will be deeply missed by his 4 children, Christine Cochran and husband Sean of Salem, NH, Geoffrey Grandmaison of Londonderry, NH, Kevin Grandmaison of Plaistow, NH and Kara Grandmaison of Arlington, MA, his siblings, Donna Rose and husband Frank of SC, Marcia Mahoney and husband David of Seabrook, NH, Michael Grandmaison and wife Ann of Danvers, MA, and Joy Joslin of TX; his 3 grandchildren, Brandon and Corey Cochran and Nathan Grandmaison, his extended family and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, George Grandmaison Sr. and Catherine (David) Murphy.
