George C. Packard, 72, of Lawrence, MA passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a long, courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Lawrence, a son of the late Mabel (Laverriere) and Albert Packard, Sr.

Mr. Packard proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.  He was a family man who always did what was best for his family.  He enjoyed making everyone laugh. "If I've made you laugh today, your day wasn't half bad" was one of his known sayings.  Mr. Packard enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his hunting buddy, his nephew; Gerry Bouthilette.  He loved cruising on his motorcycle.  He loved taking trips to Dunkin Donuts with the gang: dogs Riley and Wesley and last remaining gang member Sopa!  Some called him Mad Dog and others The Mayor of Mt. Vernon because as he drove through the neighborhood he would stop to converse with every neighbor within shouting distance!

He loved cooking and the holidays were his favorite time to show-off his gourmet skills!  Every holiday he would rise early to prepare a feast for his family with all the trimmings!  He would always complain that the Thanksgiving turkey  was never big enough! He had a childlike innocence about him with a big enthusiasm for life! He was the life of the party keeping us all in stitches!  He will be missed dearly by all who knew him!  In lieu of donations, please keep his memory alive by spreading joy through laughter!

He is survived by his wife; Loretta (Palermo) Packard of Lawrence, by his daughters; Brittany Cushing and her husband Chuck of Atkinson, NH, April Dinsmore and her husband Michael of Salem, NH and Sophia "Packard" Moody of Lawrence, by his grandchildren; Julian Dinsmore and Jack Cushing, by his sisters; Linda Unger and her husband Steve of Merrimack, NH, Karen Gazzara and her husband Mike of Litchfield, NH and Lisa Marooney and her husband Tim of Manchester and also by a sister in law; Nancy Packard of Manchester.  He was predeceased by his two brothers; Albert Packard, Jr. and Bruce Packard.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday, October 30th in St. Joseph Church, 40 Main St., Salem.  Military honors will follow.
