Glenn Thomas Barnes, 57, of Salem, NH, passed away suddenly on July 29, 2022.

Glenn was born in Lawrence, MA, on November 14, 1964, to Judith and William Barnes. He was raised in Andover, MA, and attended Andover High School, where he was known for both his artistic talent and his scientific aptitude. Glenn graduated from University of Massachusetts Lowell with an MSc in biology in 1991. He was an accomplished geneticist who worked for biopharma companies in the Boston area for three decades, most recently Agios Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, MA. Glenn, who was an Eagle Scout in his youth, continued to have a great love of the outdoors throughout his life and hiked often in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Glenn also loved to travel and in recent years had visited Japan, Iceland, Scotland, England, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Ecuador.

Glenn is preceded in death by his mother, Judith S. Barnes. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Zoe Barnes, and her partner, Ron Donahue, of Chelmsford, MA; his father, William Barnes of Haverhill, MA; his sister, Marcy Barnes, of Somerville, MA; his aunt, Carol Landers, of Prattsville, NY; his nephew, Ewan Henrie; his ex-wife and best friend, Alicia Barnes, of Haverhill, MA; close friend, Vinette DiGregorio of Center Conway, NH; and friends, neighbors, and coworkers who thought the world of him.
