Grace V. Donovan, 88 of Salem New Hampshire, passed away at Holy Family Hospital on Tuesday, January 10 th with her loving family by her side.
Grace was born in Methuen MA on October 9 th 1934 to the late Frederick and Grace (Sullivan) McGowan and graduated from St. Mary's High School. She attended McIntosh Business School and worked at New England Brick and The Boston Globe.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Vincent P. Donovan. As parents, they exemplified the true meaning of family devotion, self-sacrifice, and striving to live a Christ-filled life. Grace was also predeceased by a brother, Bro. Thomas McGowan, O.F.M.
Grace leaves behind her six children, Vincent and wife Robin of Haverhill MA, Christine Carter and husband Fred of Salem NH, Paul and wife Pamela of Atkinson NH, Jude and wife Nancy of Salem NH, Joseph and wife Stacey of Manchester NH, and Mary Scaccia and husband Gerry of Londonderry, NH. She also leaves a brother, Frederick McGowan. Grace was also richly blessed with twenty-six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13 th from 8:00 – 9:15 a.m. at Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street Salem NH. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, 2 Searles Road, Windham NH. Burial will be at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01832.
