Helen A. Gurska, 88, of Salem, NH passed away at the High Pointe Hospice House on August 10, 2026.

She grew up in Revere and Chelsea, MA, and graduated from Chelsea High School, Class of 1957. Helen worked for many years at Hysils Gift Wrap and Card Gallery. She found joy in playing the organ and took great pleasure in cooking, knitting, and crocheting. She was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Couples Group and the Dames Bowling League.

Helen will be remembered for her devotion to family, her talents, and the quiet ways she enriched the lives of those around her.

Helen will be sadly missed by her 4 children, Eileen Ells and husband Ed, Jeannette Gurska, Richard Gurska, Michael Gurska and wife Stacey; her 10 grandchildren, her 8 great grandchildren and her faithful friends, Diane Cormier and Gail Lambert.

She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their many sporting events, dance recitals, graduations and weddings throughout the years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard T. Gurska and her brother, Joseph Curran.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 10:00 AM –12:00 Noon followed by a funeral service at noon at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH. Burial will be at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s name may be sent to Silverthorne Adult Day Care, 23 Geremonty Dr. Salem, NH 03079 or to High Pointe Hospice House, 360 North Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830.
