Helen L. Laycock, 71 a lifelong Salem, NH resident passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA.  She was born in Salem, MA, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Perry) Ruest.

Mrs. Laycock worked for over 25 years at the Mary A. Fisk Elementary School.  With her unselfish nature she was always willing to go out of her way to help.  She was so much more than a "recess lady."  Her faith and her family were very important to her.  Mrs. Laycock was a communicant and active member of the Mary Queen of Peace Church community.  She loved hearing about her grandchildren's adventures.  She also loved spending time at her lake house in Wakefield, NH.  Remember her in the early morning sitting at the end of the dock, a book in one hand and coffee in the other.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years; Fred D. Laycock of Salem, her son; Thomas J. Laycock and his wife Sara R. of Salem, her daughter; Amy Hernon and Joshua Bruck of Wakefield, MA, two grandchildren; Jessica and Benjamin, a brother; Robert Ruest and his wife Lori of Hampton Falls, NH, her sister; Beverly Jalbert and her husband Philip of Beverly, MA and by many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by four sisters.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 23rd at 10:30am in Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem.
