Herbert G. Wheeler Jr., 82, of Salem, NH passed away peacefully in his sleep, on August 9, 2023 at his home after a period of declining health.

Herb was affectionately known as The Babe, Hey Babe, Uncle Babe and Uncle Crabby.  Herb was unquestionably a character, and was unforgettable to most everyone who met him.

He was the son of the late Herbert G. Wheeler Sr. and Carlotta (Ramos) Wheeler.  He grew up in Boston and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School. He worked as a milkman at Hood for many years and later retired from Massport with over 20 years of service.  He enjoyed puttering around the home and was always working on a project.

Herb will be missed by his wife, Andrea (Sass) Wheeler of Salem, NH; his son Sean Wheeler; his 4 siblings, Roberta Huggins, C. Diana Wheeler, Lester Wheeler and Deborah Smith; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Ken Sass and sister-in-law Wendy Sass, as well as all his good friends. His Auntie Dorothy will miss their daily calls. He was predeceased by his sons, Herbert Wheeler, III, and Derek Wheeler, and by his siblings, Charlotte Wheeler, Matthew Wheeler and Richard Wheeler, and his father-in-law Paul Sass and mother-in-law Jeanne Sass.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7, 2023 at Seasons 52, 6 Wayside Rd, Burlington, MA 01803.  Service begins at noon, followed by a luncheon.
