Jacqueline M. (Fornesi) Nownes, 61, of Atkinson, NH and formerly of Salem, NH passed away at Brigham and Women's Hospital on December 6, 2023.

She grew up in Lawrence, MA and graduated from St. Mary's High School. Jackie received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Social Work from UMass Lowell. She was a social worker at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center until her retirement.

Jackie loved spending time at their home in Poland, ME. It was her happy place. She loved sitting in the sun, taking slow boat rides around the lake blasting Earth, Wind and Fire and sitting by the fire at night listening to Burt Bacharach. She passed a lot of time playing games on her phone keeping her brilliant mind sharp.

Roger would like to thank the doctors, nurses, aides and therapists at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem and Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Bradford for their wonderful care. A special thank you to her in-home caregivers Maria, Angela and Sylvia for their kind, loving care and friendship.

Jackie will be deeply missed by her loving and heartbroken husband, Roger Nownes of Atkinson, NH; her sons, Alexander Gentile of Windham, NH and Nicholas Gentile of New York, NY; her mother, Camille D. (LoBisco) Fornesi of Salem, NH; her stepdaughter, Forest Baro and husband, Josh of Somersworth, NH; her siblings, Julie O'Leary and husband John of Haverhill, MA and John Fornesi and wife Lori of Lawrence, MA; her granddaughter who was the light of her life, Aaliyah Gentile; her sisters-in-law, Jinny Sawyer and husband Michael and Jen Duclos and husband Aimé her nephews and niece, Michael Fornesi, John O'Leary and wife Jess, Patrick O'Leary and partner Kaileigh Nightingale, Cailey O'Leary and her great niece and great nephew, Aria and PJ O'Leary.   She had a close bond with her chosen family and dearest lifelong friend, Marianne Matatall and husband Kevin and goddaughter, Kathryn Matatall. She was predeceased by her father, John C. Fornesi.

Visitation will be Monday, December 11th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
