James A. Tatlis, 89, of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Adolph and Helen (Blanchette) Tatlis.
James graduated from Central Catholic High School. He was a proud American and served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. James worked for the NE Telephone Co. where he retired from. In his early years he enjoyed politics, hockey, running and mountain climbing. James also enjoyed building things, bookcases, a stereo and gardening. He was a hard worker and a great family provider with strong beliefs in a lot of things. James had a great rapport with his grandchildren whom he enjoyed immensely. They enjoyed his sense of humor. James was always there for his family when they needed anything.
He is survived by his children; Catherine Tatlis and wife Gail Buscanera, Mary Tatlis, Jacqueline (Tatlis) Fermoyle, Anne (Tatlis) Lofgren, Ellen (Tatlis) Callier and husband Lee, Geralynn (Tatlis) Potvin and husband Mark, Mark Tatlis and Christine (Tatlis) Fulton and husband William. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Eric and Kara Liwanag, Matthew Buscanera, Michael Berthold, Kallie Tatlis, Angela Spirdione, Maxine Callier, William, Charles and James Fulton and Monica and Marissa Lofgren, by his 14 great grandchildren; by two sisters; Claire (Tatlis) Vetros and Joan (Tatlis) Bardash and husband Alex and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his bride; Jacqueline "Jackie" V. (Bradstreet) Tatlis in 2018, by his son; James Tatlis and by his son in law; Ricky Fermoyle.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 9:00am to 11:00am in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. A funeral service will follow Saturday at 11:00am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the DAV – Disabled America Veterans P.O. 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
