Janet D. (Hyde) Turner, 83, a longtime resident of Salem, NH died Sunday, February 18th at Bellamy Fields Assisted Living in Dover, NH.
Janet was born in Swampscott, MA the daughter of the late Lillian (Currier) and Ray Hyde, Sr. She grew up in Salem and graduated from Woodbury High School, Class of 1952. She was the former spouse of Edgar Turner Jr. of Salem. Janet was a health care aide and had worked at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA and Home Care Inc. in Lawrence, MA. She was a Girl Scout Leader in the 1960's and 1970's and she volunteered for many organizations. She enjoyed tea parties, sewing and bird watching. Janet was very kind and compassionate. She found joy in helping others and never sought recognition.
Janet will be sadly missed by her children, Susan Bedard and husband Louis of Nottingham, NH, Jean McQuaid and husband James of Scarborough, ME, Thomas Turner and wife Elisa Dozono of Portland, OR, and Leeann Brooks and husband Richard of Windham, NH; 10 grandchildren, Travis, Chad, Bethany, Grace, Allison, Jessica, Ariel, Ryan, Christian and Lily; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was predeceased by her son, David Turner and her siblings, Ray Hyde Jr., Robert Hyde and Elizabeth Mawson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH. Burial of the urn will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in the spring.
