Jeannie M. Gates, 90 of Nashua, NH passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at her home. She was born in Winthrop, MA, the daughter of the late John Henry and Cecilia (Kelly) MacDonald.
Mrs. Gates was a former resident of Salem, NH where she was very active in Salem sports activities with her children, with Dollars for Scholars as well as the Booster Club. She loved the Red Sox and the Patriots. She started working as a switchboard operator, then as a conference call coordinator and finally in telephone tech for Digital. Mrs. Gates also had worked for Langdon Place in Nashua in reception, activities and as a water aerobics instructor, she loved working. She also loved dancing, swimming, being in and near the water and her yearly trips to Freeport Bahamas since 1982. She was also known for her great Irish sense of humor.
She is survived by her two daughters; Bonnie Vancoppenolle and husband Frankie of Salem and Donna Gates of Nashua. She was predeceased by her son; Tommy Gates in 2011 and her husband John P. Gates.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral will follow Wednesday at 7:00pm in the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
