Jeannette Boss, 92, of Salem, NH passed away on November 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
She grew up in Boston, MA and she graduated from East Boston High School. One day Jeannette's brother brought home a very handsome fellow sailor. Mom fell in love and married George. They moved to Rochester and raised three daughters In Rochester, NY. Jeannette dedicated much of her professional life to nurturing knowledge and community as a longtime librarian at the Kelley Library, where she inspired countless patrons with her passion for books and learning.
Jeannette's life was filled with joy and simple pleasures. She cherished spending time with her family, whether strolling along the beach or attending theatre shows. She loved playing games and often emerged victorious, remarkably winning her first game of cornhole at the age of 91. Her great sense of humor shone through in her fondness for practical jokes, bringing laughter to those around her. Jeannette also delighted in boating excursions, watching beautiful sunsets and sneaking treats to the family dogs, always with a twinkle in her eye.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy Seidel and her husband, Jay of Fairport, NY and Lauren Boss of Salem, NH who served as her caring companion over the past year, enabling Jeannette to remain in the comfort of her home until her passing. Jeannette is also survived by her four grandchildren, Samantha Weckesser, Jennifer Boss, Kristen Savage and Justin Seidel; her siblings, Jacqueline Nobel of Palm Beach Garden, FL and Arlene Mitchell of Winthrop, MA; her 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Boss, her daughter, Debra Boss and her eleven siblings.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 23rd from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH. The family invites everyone to honor Jeannette by wearing colorful clothing- especially blue, her favorite - to the service. It'll celebrate her vibrant spirit.
