After almost 30 years of looking her Multiple Sclerosis in the eye and telling it, "Not today!" Jennie M. (Przezdziecki) O'Callaghan, 74, of Salem, NH, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 17 ^th .

Jennie was born in New Jersey, the daughter of the late Hedwig (Legas) and Joseph Przezdziecki, and sister to Mark, who predeceased her. She worked in her twenties at Dun & Bradstreet and in her forties as an Office Manager at Toshiba American Copy in Pompton Lakes, NJ. She previously lived in Wanaque, NJ, followed by Bethlehem, PA, and then Lansdale, PA, before moving to Salem in 2014.

Jennie was a devoted mother of three and grandmother to seven, specializing in good advice, tough love, oodles of understanding and gobs of kindness. In her younger days, she enjoyed arts and crafts (her piñata construction was the stuff of legends in the 80s, as were the handmade Halloween costumes her daughters only really now fully appreciate), quietly shaming other PTA members with her amazing homemade treats at bake sales, and leading her always slightly off-key family in sing-alongs on car trips to see friends and family. She was also then and always a voracious reader, but woe to those who spoiled the ending or – except in the rarest cases – argued the movie was better. She could slay you in "Jeopardy" with a memory that was both fierce and accurate, but was both sparing and judicious in her use of "I told you so." For that, her family is forever grateful.

She was a former Scout leader, a winning recreation league softball coach, a part-time drill sergeant active only in family duty and an enthusiastic patron of local music and theater.

Jennie took no prisoners in her fight against MS, beating every odd her doctors threw at her and smiling in the face of even the toughest PT sessions. She was brave and humble and loving and true of heart and maybe it isn't such a coincidence that you never saw her and Wonder Woman in the same room together.

She is already deeply and sadly missed by her husband of 48 years, Eugene "Gene" O'Callaghan; her daughters, Kathleen "Kathy" and husband George Heath of Lansdale, PA; Erin and husband James Turner of Madison, NJ; and Jennifer "Jen" O'Callaghan and husband David Blake Jr. of Salem, NH; as well as 7 grandchildren – Mark, Robert, Sarah and William Heath; Owen and Quinn Turner; and Francesca "Frankie" Blake; and the cheery neighbors who stopped to wave hello as she zoomed by in her power wheelchair with a big smile and sunlight on her face. The family dog, Casey, will miss both her and the food she "dropped" on the floor.There are no calling hours. A Funeral Service to celebrate her extraordinary life will be Wednesday, June 21 ^st at 7:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
