Obituary

John D. Arsenault, 69 of Salem, NH, entered into eternal rest May 1, 2026 at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA.  John was born in Stoneham, MA and lived briefly in Everett before moving with his family to Somerville where he graduated from Somerville High School.  Following high school John went on to earn his engineering degree and built a successful career as a dedicated quality engineer, bringing precision, problem-solving, and integrity to his work.  He was especially proud of his overseas trips to China, where he made many friends and brought his expertise to many as a trainer, often bringing home relics to share with his family.  After retirement, John continued to enjoy close friendships with many of his colleagues over the years.

John also enjoyed many activities outside of work.  He was an avid bowler, bowling in many leagues over the years.  John enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to music and he also loved to dance.  John was a devoted fan of Pink Floyd, sharing his favorite songs with family and friends.  Listening to their music brought him much comfort in his final days.

John's pride in his family was beyond words.  He was a deeply devoted dad to his two sons, Nicholas and Shawn.  When his sons were young, John took joy in cheering on their many activities and coaching their baseball and basketball teams.  As they grew older John took immense pride in their accomplishments, especially their service to our country.

Those who knew John will remember his keen sense of humor, easy smile, kind heart, appreciation for music and his enthusiasm for the activities he looked forward to and that made life fun.

John will be deeply missed by his beloved family.  He was predeceased by his cherished mother, Barbara Graf, survived by his stepfather Paul Graf, his loving sons Nicholas Arsenault and wife Ashley of Alaska, and Shawn Arsenault and wife Lauren of East Providence, RI.  He is also survived by John Arsenault of TX.  John was loved deeply by his siblings, Anne Marie Hassey and husband, Richard of Wilmington, MA.  Linda Meucci of Salem, NH and partner Mark Michel of Plaistow, NH, Michael Costa and wife Rhonda of Bedford, MA, predeceased by brother Vincent Costa and survived by Vincent's wife, Kim of Londonderry, NH.  John also leaves six grandchildren he loved and adored.  Jordyn, Keiren, David, Kellen, Evelyn and Owen.  He is also survived by many beloved nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

John meant the world to his family.  His absence leaves a space in our hearts that can never be filled.  He will be missed more than words can express.  He was not only a father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, he was also a guiding presence and steadfast support, deeply loved beyond words.  Though he is no longer with us, John's love will remain in our hearts always and he will be profoundly missed.

Visitation will be May 12, 2026 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated May 13, 2026, 11 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
