Obituary

John "Jackie" F. Hurley, 70, of Salem, NH passed away on August 5, 2021 at his home. He was born in Chelsea, MA, a son of the late Joseph J. and Ethel R. (Sanborn) Hurley.

Jackie grew up in Somerville, MA. He joined the Marines and served as an MP and was a sharpshooter. He worked as a postal worker for the Post Office in Boston, MA. Jackie loved animals, playing pool and water skiing.

He is survived by his companion; Patricia Feole of Salem, his daughter; Kristin Hurley DePesa and husband Daniel of Saugus, MA, two grandchildren; Riley and Jaxon, his siblings; Paul J. Hurley and wife Nancy of Reading, MA, Nancy McDevitt and husband John of Wakefield, MA, Joan Hurley of Malden, MA and by nieces; Tara and Katie and nephews; Michael and Patrick and grandnephews; Alex and Ryan and a grandniece; Emma. He was predeceased by his brother; Joseph "Jay" Hurley, Jr..

Following cremation a graveside service with Marine military honors will be held at 11:30am Thursday, August 12 th in the MA National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA. The Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, Salem, NH is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the DAV – Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH  45250-0301.
