Obituary

John Langtry, 88, of Salem, NH passed away on Sunday, 2/28/21 at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA.

John was born in Peoria, Illinois and was raised in Lawrence, MA. He was the son of William and Mary (Barnes) Langtry. John enjoyed traveling around the country in his R.V. He liked spending the winters in Florida with his wife Kathy, playing golf, visiting flea markets and spending time in Disney World. He and Kathy enjoyed summering along the NH Seacoast. He taught his grandchildren to fish and loved accompanying them to country fairs where he would watch the horse pulling.

John served in the United States Air Force as part of the military police before serving in the United States Air Force Reserves. His service duty required travel to Germany, a country he liked and returned to in later years. John worked at AVCO and, for many years, at Gillette as a Security and Safety Manager. During this time, John worked as a part-time Police Officer with the Salem, New Hampshire Police Department.

John will be sadly missed by his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Cathy and his granddaughter Sara of Salem, NH; his daughter-in-law Charlene Langtry of Washington, NH and his grandchildren Scott Langtry and his wife Callie, Christopher Langtry and his wife Kristie, Steven Langtry and his wife Cathy, Shannon St. Pierre and her husband Jordan; and his great-grandchildren Zack, Alex and Graham, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his wife Kathryn Langtry, his son Rick Langtry and siblings William, Edward, Charles, Betty and Mary.
