John R. Lavallee, 67, of Salem, NH passed away on August 30th at Lawrence General Hospital after a period of declining health.
John was born in Lawrence, MA, the son of the late Cecile (Guay) and Jean Lavallee. He grew up in Salem, NH and graduated from Salem High School. John proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Midway during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Japan and the Philippines. John worked in the construction department of Western Electric. He was a Cub Master for Pack 521and Boy Scout Leader for Troop 98. He enjoyed fishing in freshwater and deep water and cooking. John was devoted to his family. His grandson, Joe was the light of his life and he was the "Funkle" going to all of his nieces and nephews sporting events as well as his great nieces T-Ball games.
John will be sadly missed by his sons, Craig Lavallee and husband Jason Ahrens of Seattle, WA and John Lavallee, Jr. and wife Amanda of Dracut, MA; his former wife, Denise Lavallee of Salem, NH; his siblings, Gary Lavallee and wife Mary of Gilford, NH, Bruce Lavallee and wife Wendy of Phoenix, AZ, Susan Wright and husband Kenneth of Salem, NH and Sandi Labrecque and husband Steve of Salem, NH; beloved grandson Joseph, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 9:30am to 11:00am in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. A celebration of life will follow Saturday at 11:00am in the funeral home, followed by family remembrances and military honors.
Mercy meal is starting at 12:30 in the Pleasant St. United Methodist Church – Call Memorial Hall, 8 Pleasant St., Salem, NH 03079. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name may be made to: Center for Oceans. https://www.conservation.org/about/center-for-oceans
