Obituary

Joseph C. Davey, III of Atkinson, NH died suddenly at home from a heart attack on Thursday, Oct. 22 nd .

He was born in Lawrence, MA and graduated from the Greater Lawrence Technical High School.  Joe had several careers during his lifetime; he was a firefighter for the Town of Derry, NH and a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Atkinson, NH. Joe owned and operated Rainbow Auto Sales.  He was also a Justice of the Peace and performed several weddings for family and friends. Joe was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and traveled to Sturgis for over 28 years and was to be recognized in the Sturgis Race and Rally Hall of Fame. Joe was an avid skier in his younger years and also loved snowmobiling and boating on Big Island Pond where he grew up.   Joe had the Irish gift of gab and he was a friend and helper to all. He was a skilled story teller and his stories will be treasured.

He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, of 28 years Karen DeLucia; sisters and brother in law, Connie Zaccardi, JoAnn DeLucia, Rocci DeLucia, Sr., and Kathy Davey; several nieces and nephews including Lisa Santoro, Gina Zaccardi, Kara Loiacono, Rocci DeLucia, Jr. and Jeffrey DeLucia and their families; Aunt Helen Davey, many cousins; and his children, Heidi Gaudreau and Jay Davey.

He was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn (Vogel) and Joseph H. Davey, Jr. and his brother Dennis M. Davey who predeceased him by 3 days.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 27 th at 11:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd. Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Masks are required and social distancing will be practiced.
