Obituary

Joseph Randolph Rushton passed peacefully at his home of 58 years on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the age of 85.

He was born in Baltimore County, MD on April 24, 1935 where he lived for ten years before moving to Massachusetts. He was a graduate of Reading High School Class of 1953. He enlisted as a 1 st Class Airman in the United States Air Force in 1954. He was very proud of his 3 ½ years of service and enjoyed sharing stories of his time in Germany with his family.

On April 2, 1960 he married Janet and in 1962, they moved to Salem, NH where they raised their three children and created many priceless memories with their five grandchildren.

He enjoyed traveling, including his favorite trips he took with his wife to Hawaii and Alaska. He will be most remembered by those who loved him as the family photographer, genealogist, and his love for his now deceased black labs Bruiser and Pilgrim. His grandchildren will fondly remember him for his Mickey Mouse pancakes, trips to Story Land and dedicated attendance to their many activities and sporting events.

He was predeceased by his father; George Warren Rushton in 1992 and his mother; Mary Alice in 2012.

Family members include his wife of 60 years, Janet of Salem; son Steven and wife Jacqueline of Chichester; daughter Nancy of Nashua; son Todd and wife Shelly of Londonderry; grandson Joshua and fiancé Kimmy; granddaughter Amanda and husband Jordan, granddaughter Ashley and fiancé Blake; grandsons Joey and Tyler; and great grandson Camden.

Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic, the services will be private for the family. Interment with military honors will be in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. An expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Compassus Hospice of Bedford, NH or the Wounded Warrior Project.
