Jules "Jay" Bauters, 92, passed away on May 21, 2024 at Holy Family Hospital after a period of failing health.

Jay grew up in Lawrence and was the son of the late Raymond Bauters and the late Argentine Mary (Gisquiere) Benson. Jay served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and worked for Western Electric/Lucent Technologies for many years.  He took early retirement to care for his son John. Jay loved to dance and fish, and loved playing cards with his wife and their friends.  He enjoyed daily breakfast at Sammy J's and he made many friends there as well.

Jay is survived by his children, Susan Tisbert of Pelham, NH and Jay Bauters of Salem, NH; his sister, Nancy Ferguson and husband Alan of Bridgewater, MA; his grandsons, Michael Fecteau of Pelham, NH and Matthew Tisbert of Maine; his six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jay lost the love of his life, Doris, in September of 2023 after almost 70 years of marriage.

He was predeceased by his son, John Bauters, whom Jay lovingly cared for during John's long battle with MS, his sister, Joan (Mrs. Fred) Buckley of Newburyport and his granddaughter, Lauren Tisbert.

Visitation will be Friday, May 31st from 3:00 – 6:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH
