Julie (Kozdra) Fornesi Smeltzer, 49, a lifelong resident of Salem, NH passed away on December 16, 2018. She was born in Methuen, MA to John F. and Jane (Collins) Kozdra on September 16, 1969. She was educated in Salem, NH public schools and a graduate of Fazio's School of Beauty in Lawrence, MA.

Julie practiced cosmetology her entire working career both owning her own salon and working in several different salons in Salem, NH. Julie was very compassionate, kind-hearted person, a loyal friend with a great love for people and animals.

She is survived by her son, Michael Fornesi; her daughter, Kassandra Smeltzer; her parents, John and Jane Kozdra; her brother and his wife, Bud and Sherrie Hawkins; her sister and her husband, Linda and Dan Davis; her sister and her husband, Kristin and John Handy; her maternal aunt Charlotte Collins along with other aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral will follow Saturday at 1:00pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family to help establish an education fund for her daughter; Kassandra.
